Yesterday, around 2:00pm shots were fired in West Valley City at a local Smith’s. At the entrance, the suspect, 36-year old Rufino Cervantes, self-inflicted himself and from that gunshot the fragments injured three other people. Two women in their mid-twenties and a three to four-year-old little girl. The three to four-year-old little girl’s family came to Utah from Las Vegas for her cancer treatment.

The news reporters aren’t sure what drove the suspect to do what he did and this isn’t his first committed felony. He didn’t have a target, it was a random shooting. “Police say he was taken to a hospital for treatment prior to being booked,” says the article from Fox 13 News, the article also mentioned some schools from the Granite School District sheltering in place as the police searched for the suspect.
