On August 25th Friday night the most terrible thing happened in Houston, Texas. Hurricane Harvey happened. Houses, cars, and buildings were destroyed. People and their pets are injured. It started off with powerful wind and then the water came in.

For some it was the wind that did the damage. For others, water did the damage. Floodwaters were heading south trying to find their way to the Gulf of Mexico. The walls of stores were gone but, there were still shelves of food left behind. For four days many areas received forty inches of rain.

Hurricane Harvey was the first major hurricane to make landfall in the United States since hurricane Wilma in 2005. Harvey has caused at least 71 deaths. Donald Trump signed a 15 billion dollar bill on Friday for Hurricane Harvey victims. Hurricane Harvey could cost US economy $290 billion. Some people had to leave their homes that they have lived for years.

It’s sad because people’s homes have been destroyed. These people don’t have anywhere to stay. They have to throw away most of their stuff that have mold on them. These people don’t have anything left from their homes. They don’t have much clothes, food, or furniture.

Diana, I love the alliteration in your headline! This is a very sad situation for many. Like you mentioned in the article, I can’t even begin to imagine what it would be like to lose literally everything.
